The first round of the Joma Cabrera de Mar Challenger was the perfect preparation for an exciting set of last sixteen matches. One of the great surprises was Agustín Tapia and Andrés Britos's three set victory (6-4 / 2-6 / 4-6) against Seba Nerone and Alex RuizBorja Yribarren and Guga Vázquez won another tight match (6-4 / 3-6 / 6-2) against Eduard Bainad and Gerard Company. Another pairing to win in three sets was Jordi Muñoz - Juan Lebron who got the better of Javier Redondo and Javier Martinez. José Antonio García Diestro and Martín Sánchez Piñeiro grabbed a comfortable 6-3 / 6-1 win against José Rico and Juan Manuel Restivo. Other pairings that advanced were Fede Chingotto - Juan Tello, Maty Marina - Javier Concepción, Nacho Gadea - Germán Tamame, and Uri Botello - Javier Ruiz.
