Di Nenno and Navarro survive tricky three-set Master Final debut

The last of the eight Estrella Damm Master Final 2021 quarter-finals was between the two-seed in Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno and 2020's winner Fernando Belasteguín and his teenage partner Arturo Coello, who made his Master Final debut.

In front of a record-breaking quarter-finals audience at the Madrid Arena of almost nine thousand people, the first set started on very equal footing. That was until the sixth game, where Di Nenno and Navarro found a way through to break, an advantage they would keep to claim the opening frame 6-3.

Coello and Bela did anything but surrender in the second set. Playing great attacking padel, they ran away with a 5-1 lead through two breaks. While Navarro and Di Nenno broke back once, it would end up going to three sets: 3-6.

In the third three-setter on Friday, Navarro and Di Nenno played with newfound determination. The pair that is still fighting for number one status found the break and saw this game out in just under two hours. It finished 6-3 3-6 6-3, and Sanyo Gutiérrez and Agustín Tapia await in the semi-finals.
