World Padel Tour had touched down in Denmark for the very first time as the Danish Padel Open 2022 is now officially underway.

Women's pre-qualifying saw many local players making their WPT debuts through wild cards, with some of them making it out into the qualifying rounds.

Here is what happened at the PadelPadel club in Odense!

We start off with the newly-formed pairing of Nicole Traviesa and Belgian Helena Wyckaert, who took on the young duo of British number one Tia Norton and her Spanish counterpart Carla Fito.

Looking to make their first qualifying appearance, Fito and Norton won the opening set via tie-break 6-7, only for Wyckaert and Traviesa to respond in style. A 6-4 6-1 whirlwind followed in the second and third set to grant them passage into the qualifying rounds on Monday.

Alicia Blanco and Sara Ruiz had fewer problems in their match, beating Clara Miret and Portuguese Bruna Albuquerque by a double 6-0 in under an hour.

Next, Italians Emily Stellato and Carolina Petrelli faced wild cards Baharak Soleymani and Anna Åkerberg for another ticket to the qualifying rounds, and did so via a double 6-2 in dominant fashion.

Their fellow countrywomen Francesca Ligotti and Martina Parmigiani were successful too in their bid against Carla Mocete and Aida Martínez. It ended 6-2 6-4 to the Italians, who are in their first qualifying of the season.

The local Gitte Haxen and her Belarussian partner Anastacia Yakimova caused an upset on Sunday. They beat Ana Domínguez and Lucía García in three sets 6-7 6-4 6-4. She was the only Dane to make it out of pre-qualifying.

Mireia Herrada and María Rodríguez beat the all-Danish pair Biljana Billie and Antonete Andersson with a double 6-3.

The Martas (not those ones!) Marta Barrera and Marta Caparrós were on fire as well on Sunday at the PadelPadel club in Odense, winning 6-1 6-0 against local Johanne Lundager and Mathilde Aaskov.

Finally, Nuria Vivancos and Carmen García had an equal scoreline against Russians Angelina Neizvestnaya and Daria Ovsiannikova, winning 6-1 6-0.

This is how the qualifying on Monday shapes up:
