Close to 20.000 people visit inaugural Amsterdam Open 2022!

The first-ever Amsterdam Open 2022 has seen almost 20.000 Dutch padel fans pass through the Centrale Markthal across the week.

Incredibly, the event was sold out every single day from Wednesday to Sunday. Not only is this nearly unprecedented in general, but especially for a country hosting World Padel Tour for the first time.

All five evenings saw every one of the 2.500 seats at centre court filled, as well as the morning sessions on Friday and Saturday.

The Netherlands are the 16th different country to host WPT and the fifth country to make its debut in 2022.

Star-studded event

Not only were the stands packed with tens of thousands of Dutch padel fans, there was also a lot of sporting royalty at the Centrale Markthal.

Footballing icons Arjen Robben and Robin van Persie took part in an exhibition match with Juan Lebrón and Alejandro Galán on Tuesday.

Both Frank and Ronald de Boer were in attendance as well, as was former Ballon D'Or and Euros winner Ruud Gullit. Other notable guests included Dirk KuytRafael van der Vaart and Lucas Ocampos.

As padel has taken the Netherlands by storm in recent years, nobody wanted to miss out on the best players in the world taking centre stage in their country.

All in all, the Amsterdam Open has been a resounding success.
