Brussels Padel Open added to 2022 World Padel Tour calendar

Belgium will be added to the evergrowing World Padel Tour calendar as the Brussels Padel Open has been announced for 2022.

The Belgian public has already witnessed professional padel first-hand in the form of multiple exhibitions across the years, but will now host an Open for the very first time.

Both the men's and women's Circuit will compete in Brussels at the Tour & Taxis complex, a collection of historic buildings with great architectural value.

The news of the Brussels Open comes straight after the conclusion of the Areco Malmö Padel Open 2021. It saw the third biggest live crowd in World Padel Tour history and the biggest outside of Spain. This confirms the growth of padel as a sport worldwide.

Padel boom in Belgium

Statistically, interest in padel has seen massive growth in Belgium. Views from Belgium on the World Padel Tour YouTube channel grew from 247.247 in 2019 to 517.302 in 2020, a growth of 109%.

In the first ten months of 2021, compared to 2020, the Belgian views have again more than doubled. 111% to be exact, with 863.886 views in the current years already at the time of writing.

32 male and female pairs will compete from Tuesday, May 3rd to Sunday, May 8th in the final draw of the tournament.

Before, there will be qualifying and pre-qualifying rounds, the venue of which has not been made public yet.

Another international destination has been added to the World Padel Tour calendar. With the likes of Denmark, Mexico, Argentina, Portugal, Sweden and Italy already on the calendar, what is another country you would like to see host a tournament?
