Tapia/Gutiérrez (3) vs Capra/Ruiz (8)

First in action were Argentinian duo and The Race 2022 leaders Sanyo Gutiérrez and Agustín Tapia in their quest for a fourth consecutive semi-final appearance.

They faced eight-seed Lucho Capra and Javi Ruiz, who have yet to reach the semi-finals since coming together as a partnership.

Galán/Lebrón (1) vs Coello/Belasteguín (6)

Next were number ones and winners of the two previous Alicante Open events Juan Lebrón and Alejandro Galán, taking on Miami Padel Open winners Arturo Coello and Fernando Belasteguín.

Coello and Bela have not made the semi-finals since their glory in the United States, while Lebrón and Galán have made back-to-back finals.

Ruiz/Stupaczuk (4) vs Sánchez/Lima (7)

A three-nation battle featured next as Alejandro Ruiz and Franco Stupaczuk faced former number ones Pablo Lima and Maxi Sánchez.

Ruiz and Stupa aimed for consecutive semi-final appearances, while Sánchez and Lima still waited for their first time among the final four since September.

Navarro/Di Nenno (2) vs Chingotto/Tello (5)

Finally, Vigo victors Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno had a rematch of last year's Alicante Open quarter-finals against Fede Chingotto and Juan Tello.

Chingotto and Tello beat the current number twos in straight sets in 2021 in Alicante, but Di Nenno and Navarro have made tremendous strides since then. Could they get their revenge?
