Adeslas Open, fourth tournament of the 2020 season

The fourth torunament of the 2020 World Padel Tour calendar will be the Adeslas Open, which will be held in Madrid from August 2 to 9. The event will take place at the Madrid Arena and will take the date of the Malaga Open, which is postponed until 2021 due to the current health crisis.

The Adeslas Open will complete the start of the season that has allowed the recovery of competitive activity once the state of alarm derived from the crisis caused by COVID-19 has ended. The torunament, to be held in the first week of August, will bring together the best rackets on the world in search of the fourth title of the 2020 campaign.

The same way as the Estrella Damm Open and the Vuelve a Madrid Open, the Madrid Arena will be the scenario of the Adeslas Open. The Madrid venue, along with the Satellite Pavilion, will once again host the 5 courts where all the matches of this professional Circuit event will take place. On this occasion, as on the previous two, for security reasons, it will be held again behind closed doors, a circumstance that the World Padel Tour is confident of not having to repeat if the evolution of the pandemic is positive.

The dates in which the Adeslas Open will be held were initially reserved in the pre-pandemic calendar for the celebration of the Cervezas Victoria Málaga Open. In this sense, the conversations held by WPT with the Malaga City Council and the Junta de Andalucía, have been constant and fluid during the last weeks in relation to being able to celebrate the event in Malaga, a goal shared from the beginning by both parties. .

However, the alarm produced in Malaga by the appearance of a high number of new COVID-19 infections in the city and throughout Andalusia, placing it as the Spanish Community with the most active outbreaks at present, has caused the suspension of the tournament this year. There were no health and sports guarantees for the dispute of the Open, so a put offto the 2021 calendar has been mutually agreed.

As communicated a few dates ago, World Padel Tour is working day by day with the venues and will release the new 2020 calendar in the coming days.
