After the Estrella Damm Catalunya Master it's time for the second event of the season: the Estrella Damm Alicante Open 2018. Another date with the best players on the planet, another chance to watch all the action, magic and spectacle of the best padel in the world. There are many reasons to not miss out on this tournament, but here are five of the best:The reaction of the leadersThe first tournament of the season saw the top ranked pairings in both categories fail to reach the final. Both Fernando Belasteguín - Pablo Lima and Majo - Mapi Sánchez Alayeto lost in the semifinals of the season opener. A rare occurrence for two pairings that are used to dominating their respective categories. A slip up which will leave them even more geared up to bounce back with authority. The return of SilingoAfter having suffered a number of injuries on his right shoulder and having undergone surgery twice, Agustín Gómez Silingo will finally make his return in Alicante. The player from La Plata won't line up alongside his regular partner Álex Ruiz as he is out with an ankle injury but he'll team up with Gerard Company. Silingo hasn't been in action since the Mijas Open in July.Double the actionOne of the main additions this season in Alicante is the creation of a second court at the Centro de Tecnificación de Alicante. A second court which will offer double the amount of matches until the quarter finals in both categories. A formula which was already successful at the recent Sevilla Open or the Buenos Aires Padel Master. More matches, more excitement and more World Padel Tour spectacle. A tournament with a double dose of everything. The revelationsAgustín Tapia, Juan Lebrón, Juan Cruz Belluati, Lucas Bergamini or Bea González were some of the names that grabbed the headlines at the start of the season. Surprises, revelations and new blood looking to break through. After their first impact now they have to prove that it wasn't a fluke. Revelations looking to consolidate themselves in Alicante. The response from the fansThe 2017 Estrella Damm Alicante Open was one of the most successful tournament of the year in terms of spectators. Over 20,000 people attended the tournament throughout the week making it the third most watched tournament after the Barcelona Master and the Estrella Damm Master Final. The result was an incredible atmosphere on centre court at the Pabellón Pedro Ferrándiz. A padel feast which made it one of the most special tournaments of the year.If you don't want to miss all the action from the first Open of the season, purchase your tickets here.
