The women's tournament got underway on Wednesday afternoon. One break was enough for Gabarrus and Mesa in the first set, which ended 6-4. The second set was more even and exciting, and a tiebreak was needed for Mesa and Gabarrus to reach the next round.

Alicia Blanco Rojo and Beatriz Caldera Sánchez have reached the next round after eliminating Gabriela Bartomioli and Sara Ruiz Soto. They fought back from losing the first set 4-6 by claiming the following two sets 6-3 and 7-6.

Nelida Brito and Teresa Navarro raced into the next round with a 6-4 / 6-2 win against Beatriz González  and Elena Ramírez, displaying a good level of padel to overcome local player Bea Gonzalez, who received plenty of support from the fans.

The fourth pairing to advance to the last sixteen wouls come from the clash between Tamara Icardo and Paula Josemaría Martín, and Sandra Hernández and Ana Fernández de Ossó. Icardo and Martin won the first set 6-4, but Sandra and Ana would end up moving onto the last sixteen after winning the next two sets 6-4 / 6-4.

Alba Galán and María Del Carmen Villalba made their debut in Mijas against Meli García Truchado and Laura Clergue. After having just fallen short of the quarter finals in Valladolid, Galan and Villalba came out looking for a quick win. They only conceded five games to win 6-1 / 6-4.

Marta Ortega and Ariana Sanchez Fallada also got off to a good start in Mijas with a convincing win against Delfina Brea Senesi and Sara Pujals. The recent winners of the Joma Murcia Challenger, confirmed their good form with a 6-2 / 6-0 victory.

Paula Eyheraguibel and Aranzazu Osoro had to overcome a marathon match to get the better of Lorena Alonso and Alicia Lilian. After losing the first set 6-2, they struck back in the second at 6-3. With Osoro and Eyheraguibel up 5-2 in the third set, Lorena Alonso suffered an injury that put a premature end to the match.

Isabel Domínguez  and Vanesa Alonso Rodríguez had a date with Silvia López Vidal and Sofia Araújo. A date they took care off comfortably. They broke once in the first set to win 6-4 and rounded off the match 7-6 in a second set tiebreak,

The afternoon session started with an attractive match for the local fans, as Malaga-born Carolina Navarro was in action alongside Cecilia Reiter, taking on Ana Catarina Nogueira and Valeria Pavon. Navarro and Reiter dominated the match from the start with a 6-2 scoreline in the first set. In the second set, the Argentine/Portuguese duo put up more of a fight but went down against the number five seeds 6-4. The stands erupted to celebrate Carolina Navarro's victory.
